Sam & Lucas Henderson July 10, 2010

The majestic southern atmosphere of the Norris Dam Tea Room was the perfect setting for Samantha and Lucas Henderson’s wedding on July 10, 2010. You could feel the warmth in the air, although it was more from the love of the family than the heat of the hot July day. From the tall beautiful trees to the gleaming rays of sunshine; this venue could not have been more perfect for Sam and Lucas’ wedding.  As Lucas waited for Sam to arrive in a vintage yellow pick-up truck, driven by her father, his face was filled with overwhelming excitement and joy.  The barefoot couple shared their vows in a beautifully lit amphitheater ceremony to show their relaxed and natural personalities. Sam looked stunning in her dress adorned in her mother’s veil as she walked down the aisle carrying a beautiful purple, pink and green bouquet from Samuel Franklin Florist.  During the ceremony, I captured the pure spiritual love the couple have for each when Lucas washed Sam’s feet.  This action symbolizes the vow to remain humble and serve each other equally in marriage.  Several Bible verses mention the washing of feet, for example, John 13:14-17 states,

“(14) Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. (15)I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. (16) I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. (17) Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”

Sam and Lucas’ Videographer, Jason Mundie  filmed this beautiful exchange between bride and groom. He did an excellent job capturing the special moments between them and their family.  When the ceremony concluded, three adorable little ones carried a white sign that said “Just Married,” as they led the newlyweds to the reception! The new bride and groom were welcomed with hugs by their friends and family the in the beautifully decorated Tea Room. Everyone dined on good ole’ southern staples like ham, chicken, greens and cornbread.  For desert, a gorgeous cake decorated with purple ribbon fondant topped with a silver H.  The adorable grooms cake was an edible Chaco that was enjoyed by all.  Both cakes were created by Jill Payne. The night ended with dancing, laughter and love!
